Why Red Sky?
Red Sky look to create genuine, long lasting and credible partnerships for our athletes. We do this by spending time with our athletes, getting to know them and then partnering them with the businesses who hold similar objectives and beliefs- creating long term partnerships that maximise value for both the athlete and the sponsor.
We partnered Xodus with Hannah Miley in 2009 having successfully partnered rugby player Jason White with them previously. Hannah has gone onto become Commonwealth Champion (at two consecutive Games), European Champion and World No.1.
Xodus’ investment in professional and amateur sport is founded on the belief, driven by CEO Colin Manson, that what works in sport works in business too- a strong team spirit, persevering through adversity and striving to be the very best in the world. Hannah embodies all of these values.
The partnership started with Xodus helping Hannah out with a sponsored car in 2009- a necessity for her getting from home to training and university, something that made a real difference to her training schedule.
In the last five years the partnership has grown and Red Sky have worked to ensure both parties get maximum value from the relationship, ensuring brand exposure , creating opportunities for employee engagement and helping Xodus draw inspiration from Hannah’s story, Red Sky has built key lessons from sport into the Xodus leadership programme.
Xodus have engaged Red Sky as their external learning and development partners and have used Hannah’s journey, experience and particular leadership style to inspire improved performance through their people management skills courses and 1:1 mentoring programmes for their global workforce.
The company have also received considerable media exposure and grown brand awareness as a result of the partnership.
“Investing in people should be part of the fabric of a good business and for us, sport and having fun through competition is integral to our brand. Hannah and her determination to succeed is now part of our brand. We are supporting Hannah to Rio and are immensely proud of her and the success she has had over the last few years.”
- Stephen Swindell COO, Xodus group
Xodus have played a huge part in the success of Hannah’s swimming – the support has made a dramatic difference to her lifestyle and allowed her to train and compete at a world class level.
The partnership has also allowed Hannah to understand more about business and the skills from sport that can be applied and developed in a business environment. She has had the opportunity to articulate her story, refined it to a business environment and now understands what she can contribute to the business environment.
That ability to communicate appropriately, share her story on overcoming setbacks and developing resilience has been invaluable to Hannah as she considers what is next on her journey.
“I know when I go out and compete I have the backing of such a great company and it spurs me on. My philosophy is ‘if you do what you’ve always done then you’re going to get what you’ve always got’ and my ever growing and developing relationship with Xodus has played a huge part in taking me to the next level.”
